Every week Brazen will shine a spotlight on someone by asking them a set of questions.
Those questions are
1) What are 3 things people don’t know about you?
2) How do you motivate yourself and stay motivated?
3) If you had to start your adult life over again, what would you change?
4) What’s the single best thing that has ever happened to you?
5) What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
This week our Brazen spotlight is on Megan Howell Love.

1) What are 3 things people don’t know about you?
a) I’ve been scuba diving since I was 16, and when I met my husband, he learned too so we could dive together.
b) I enjoy knitting. My Mum taught me when I was 4 years old and she was pregnant with my little sister. I find it very relaxing and I used to take my knitting everywhere with me even into pubs. These days I tend to knit at home in front of the TV in the evenings
c) I’m a bit of a study nerd. I really enjoy learning and have done distance while working full and part time and through both of my pregnancies. I used to type my assignments on my phone while I sat on the bus travelling to collect my daughter from daycare. I have just completed a certificate in Small Business Management and I’m already looking for my next course
2) How do you motivate yourself and stay motivated?
I’m a big fan of setting big goals. When I commit to a specific goal it gives me a focus to work towards and think about. I still explore other directions and get side tracked but being clear about my goal motivates me to keep taking the right actions.
3) If you had to start your adult life over again, what would you change?
I would listen to negative people less. Too many people are afraid of risk and change, (and that’s ok for them). Every risk I take, and every time I try something different I have found immense strength, personal growth and built resilience. I love the quote “you only regret the things you don’t do”.
4) What’s the single best thing that has ever happened to you?
There are too many to count. Meeting my husband was a turning point for me. He’s a person I respect hugely, he’s supportive, kind, loyal and encouraging. We met when I was quite young and he has influenced the direction of my life. Most of the best things I have achieved were with him or with him cheering from the sidelines: buying my first house, having my children, running in events, gaining qualifications, moving up the career ladder and growing my career coaching business.
5) What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
I would take more risks and learn more stuff. I would love to be fluent in New Zealand sign language and Te Reo Maori
